About Homewood Farm FDC

Homewood Farm Family Day Care is a farm based family day care giving your child a country atmosphere to learn in. Homewood is a working farm, giving children the opportunity to learn environmental sustainability along with the more mainstream developmental activities found in early childcare. Our aim is to cater to the 'whole' child, giving them a true sense of belonging, being and becoming.

I am a grandmother and a qualified Educator.As a grandmother I have had many years experience with children of all ages. I have also worked with many children over a number of years in early childcare and vacation education schemes.

As an educator I focus on the experience of the 'whole' child. I follow the principles of both play based learning and intentional teaching, often using play based as an extension into intentional teaching. There is a large emphasis placed on nutrition and healthy foods.


Being a working farm this can be easily extended to include Environmental Sustainability, showing children how little we waste if we are wise in our methods of recycling. Food scraps go to sheep, chooks or dogs. Anything they don't eat goes to the worm farms or compost.

I will never take children out of the Day Care environment and onto the farm environment without express permission from parents beforehand.

Needlefelting - Risky Play

Needlefelting is a Fibre Art that preschoolers can enjoy with correct supervision.

The children who made this took turns adding their choice of fibre and colour to produce a colourful design for a wall hanging in their room.


At Homewood Farm FDC our philosophy is all about caring for the 'whole' child in a farm home setting. 

Our educational programs are reflective and adhere to guidelines set by ACECQANational Quality Framework and The Early Years Learning Framework, taking the child’s developmental level into account. There is plenty of opportunity for children to participate in spontaneous independent experiences as part of play based learning.
